Leg Vein Reduction FAQs
What procedure to you use to treat leg veins?
We use microscelerotherapy. This is the gold standard treatment for lower limb vein reduction.
How does Microsclerotherapy work?
It involves in the injection of an salt like solution to cause fibrosis of the veins. The veins gradually fade over the subsequent 4-6 weeks. Dr Dara use Veinlite technology to magnify the veins and optimise outcomes.
Which veins can be treated?
Microsclerotherapy is a suitable treatment for small red to purple veins on the legs. It is not appropriate to treat varicose veins or veins surrounding the ankle or foot.
How long will it take to see results?
The veins fade over the following 4-6 weeks. Some patients will require more than one session, 4-6 weeks apart.
What are the side effects of Microsclerotherapy?
It is normal for the treated area to be slightly red and to experience stinging, itching and tightness of the skin. These side effects usually subside in 2-3 days. The treated area can appear bruised for up to 2 weeks post treatment. On occasion there is residual pigmentation which can take longer to fade.
What should I expect after my treatment?
Immediately after the treated area will be red and itchy. This will settle over the next 2-3 days. Taking an anti-histamine tablet can reduce the itch.
What should I do after my treatment?
It is mandatory to wear Grade II Medical Compression Stockings for 2 weeks after your treatment. This improves the outcome and reduces the risks of blood clots. Avoid make up or creams for 24hours, and the saunas or steam rooms for 2 -3 days. You can resume normal physical activity and walking is encouraged.
What is the cost?
Dr Seebaran Suite will create a bespoke treatment package that addresses your individual skin needs. As a guide, prices start at £250
